This document outlines policies and procedures designed to advance member pursuits of holistic health and wellness. We ask that each participant take the responsibility to know and follow the policies and procedures of the Wellness Center. Adhering to this guidance ensures the facility remains a vibrant and safe place to gather, train, and learn.
Member Definition: Hereafter, the term “Member” shall be used throughout the policy to reference an individual who has a current, valid membership to the Northeast Missouri Area Agency on Aging (NEMO AAA) Wellness Center, both financially and in conduct. This includes individuals who obtain a day pass.
Adults 60 years and older are not required to pay a membership fee as Older Americans Act (OAA) funds are currently being used to support the center and future programming .
NEMO AAA Wellness Center does not allow guest.
Family Member Definition: Hereafter, the term “Family Member” shall be used throughout the policy to reference an individual who is related to the main member in one of the following ways:
- Spouse
- Unmarried partner living within the main member’s household a minimum of two years (proof of residency is required)
- Dependents of the Wellness Center member (main member) age 11-17, living in the same residence as the main member (must be unmarried).
In order for a family member to be eligible for a NEMO AAA Wellness Center membership, the member must meet one of the aforementioned criteria. Verification of guardianship, family status, and residency may be required.
A membership application and signed waiver release is require along with proof of identification before using the wellness center. All eligible children must be listed on the Family Membership form with a parent/guardian signing
- Admittance Policy
1.01 The NEMO AAA Wellness Center is for the use of individual and family members along with NEMO AAA employees. Children between the ages of 11-15 must be accompanied by a parent or legal guardian at all times. Children under the age of 16 are not allowed to use the facility as a guest.
1.02 All individuals entering the Wellness Center must:
- Complete an application at the NEMO AAA office to receive their personal access card.
- All-non-members must register as a guest at the NEMO AAA office, sign a guest waiver, and submit required payment for day pass. Guests of members are not allowed to utilize the facility until all necessary paperwork is completed. Failure to follow our guest policy may result in membership suspension or termination.
- Visitors, vendors, or maintenance personnel must check-in at the NEMO AAA office.
1.03 NEMO AAA reserves the right to confirm membership status, access authorization and the age of any individual within the facility at any time.
- Liability Release Requirements
2.01 All individuals entering the Wellness Center to participate in or observe any activity must first complete a Liability Waiver form. This includes individuals with support staff. Each Support Staff member must complete a liability waiver.
A family membership can be purchased for individuals who have the assistance of support staff who are utilizing the walking track and/or machines.
2.02 A parent or legal guardian must complete the Liability Release Form in the presence of a Wellness Center staff member for any individual between 11 and 17 years of age. Children of Wellness Center members ages 11-15 must be accompanied by a parent or legal guardian at all times. Children under the age of 16 are not allowed to use the facility as a guest. Liability Release forms are not accepted from minors or third parties.
2.03 For contracted programs and events a designated representative may assume responsibility for procuring waiver release and ensuring waiver validity for program participants. The representative will provide the Wellness Center management a list of all program participants and a signed Wellness Center Liability Release form for each guest.
2.04 The NEMO AAA Wellness Center is not responsible for injury sustained in any Wellness Center activity or caused by using any Wellness Center equipment. Guests are responsible for ensuring equipment is functional before use and for possessing the knowledge necessary to properly and safely use the equipment. Notify NEMO AAA staff of any equipment malfunction or disrepair.
- Membership Rates and Pay Options
3.01 Membership Rates: Membership rates vary by member type and management has the right to change membership rates at any time. To learn current membership options and rates, contact the NEMO AAA staff by calling 660-665-4682.
3.02 Membership Payment Options: NEMO AAA Wellness Center offers daily passes, monthly, quarterly, semi-annual, and annual membership options.
Members 60 years and older are afforded the opportunity to voluntarily contribute to the Wellness Center. All funds are put directly back into the center. There is a locked box where contributions can be made in the Wellness Center. The contribution box is checked on a daily basis.
Cash and checks are accepted. A $35.00 insufficient funds fee will be assessed for any returned check. Other payment options may be available in the near future.
3.03 Personal Key Card: Each member will be provided with a unique key tag for quick access to the facility. Lost or damaged key tags may be replaced for a fee of $5. Members are not to give their unique personal key tag to anyone else to access the facility, members or non-members alike.
3.04: NEMO AAA Wellness Center does not put holds or offer refunds for memberships.
3.05 Failure to Pay: A member account is considered delinquent, when on the scheduled billing date, the member payment is unsuccessful for any reason. A returned check will result in the member’s key tag being shut off until the account is made current.
- Wellness Center Operations
4.01 Wellness Center Hours of Operation: The NEMO AAA Wellness Center is open daily from 5:00 am to 11:00 pm, 7 days a week, 365 days a year. The facility is not staffed.

There is no fee for adults 60 years and older. Seniors can make a voluntary contribution of $15 per month to the center. All funds are put back directly back into the center. | ||||
4.02 General Etiquette and Conduct: In order to promote a positive environment within the NEMO AAA Wellness Center, mutual respect between members and NEMO AAA staff is required at all times. Failure to observe these guidelines will result in disciplinary action, and/or termination, of membership privileges. NEMO AAA staff have the right to refuse service to anyone deemed disruptive or abusive. The NEMO AAA reserves the right to terminate membership in response to or illegal activity by a member. The NEMO AAA Wellness Center reserves the right to turn away anyone requesting a guest pass if guest requirements are not met or in response to any immoral or illegal activity.
4.03 Etiquette
- Clean and functional wear, appropriate to the activity, is required in all areas. Shirts must be worn at all times. Any clothing worn within the facility, including logos or messages on apparel, must be acceptable in a family setting.
- Clean athletic shoes with closed toes and scuff resistant soles must be worn on the track and cardio equipment, as well as in the weight area and classroom.
- Please wipe down and return equipment to its proper location once finished.
- Closed lid, non-breakable, water bottles are permitted in all areas. Absolutely no glassware of any type permitted in the facility.
- With the exception of designated events, food is only permitted in the Wellness Center kitchenette.
- Music is limited to organized group events or instructor/volunteer led programs. Personal music devices or phones must be used with headphones/earbuds.
- NEMO AAA Wellness Center is not responsible for lost or stolen items.
4.04 Conduct: Individuals who engage in the following behaviors may have their access suspended or terminated:
- Theft, vandalism or malicious destruction of property.
- Fraudulent use of a membership card or facilitating unauthorized entry.
- Possession of a weapon on the NEMO AAA campus.
- Use of profanity or threatening and disrespectful behavior toward another individual.
- Behavior that adversely affects others or the Wellness Center reputation.
- Behavior indicating an individual is under the influence of alcohol or drugs.
4.05 Smoking Policy: Smoking, vaping, and use of any type of smokeless tobacco are strictly prohibited in the facility or on the NEMO AAA campus.
4.06 Alcohol Policy: Alcohol is strictly prohibited in the Wellness Center or on the NEMO AAA campus.
4.07 Membership Suspension or Termination: The Wellness Center has the right to suspend or terminate memberships for violations of policies or stated rules, failure to pay dues or actions which violate any federal, state, or local laws. Additionally, all Wellness Center members must abide by the Wellness Center Code of Conduct. Consequences of violations may include suspension or termination of the Wellness Center access privileges. Although, not an all-inclusive, the following list represents reason for the suspension and/or termination of membership:
- Failure to pay membership fees on time or in full
- Continued disregard for NEMO AAA Wellness Center policies and procedures
- Fighting or abusive/profane language
- Disregard for NEMO AAA staff
- Use of alcohol, tobacco, or illegal drugs on NEMO AAA property
- Behavior that presents imminent danger to the individual, NEMO AAA Wellness Center patrons, or staff
- Disregard for our facility, equipment, or property
An individual who has had their membership terminated will not be allowed to purchase a membership to the Wellness Center for a period of at least one calendar year.
4.08 Minors at the Wellness Center: The NEMO AAA Wellness Center strives to provide an environment where adults and children can participate in health and wellness activities. To ensure a safe and enjoyable experience for all supervision of minors is strongly encouraged. Children 11-15 are allowed to use the facility but must be accompanied by a parent or legal guardian at all times. Children under the age of 16 are not allowed to use the facility as a guest.
4.09 Fitness Floor and Track: The following rules apply to fitness floor activities:
- Follow safety procedures for use of equipment including but not limited to using safety clips or stops.
- NEMO AAA will provide a demonstration on how to use unfamiliar equipment. It is helpful to schedule an appointment for requested demonstrations.
- Do not use equipment that is in disrepair. Report concerns about equipment to NEMO AAA.
- Do not drop or slam free weights on the floor.
- Facility-provided gym wipes are to be utilized to wipe down equipment before and after each use.
- Limit use of cardio equipment to 30 minutes during peak hours or when others are waiting.
- 29 laps = 1 mile.
- The direction of activity on the track will be determined by the day; clockwise on Monday, Wednesday, Friday, and Sunday and counter-clockwise on Tuesday, Thursday and Saturday.
- Slower moving members should stay to the right on the track to allow other members to easily pass.
4.10 Group Health and Fitness Classes- Coming Soon
4.11 Unscheduled Closures of the Wellness Center: Although the goal for the NEMO AAA Wellness Center to be open year round there may be times when it is in the best interests to close, delay, or modify hours of operations due to inclement weather or maintenance or unsafe conditions.
Inclement weather: The following conditions may result in closure, delay, or modification of hours of operation:
- Adair County Winter Storm Warning or Tornado Warning
- Extreme wind chill of -20 degrees Fahrenheit.
- Icing resulting in unsafe parking and sidewalks
- Other weather related or facility safety issues.
Unscheduled Maintenance or Unsafe Condition Closure: The Wellness Center may close for unscheduled maintenance when such maintenance is required to ensure the safety of guests, the quality of service, or the structural integrity of the facility and systems.
- Environment of Safety
5.01 Wellness Center Environment of Safety: In order to promote a safe and secure environment, the NEMO AAA Wellness Center has placed video cameras in various locations to monitor the premises. As part of our commitment to the safety of all members, the NEMO AAA Wellness Center reserves the right to consult public sources to determine whether any member poses a reasonable risk of harm to its patrons or staff. NEMO AAA Wellness Center has the authority to make visual recordings, for its responsible use, of all individuals who enter.
5.02 Safety and Member Responsibility: In order to promote a safe and secure environment, it is your responsibility as a member of the facility to abide by the following:
- Do not let anyone in the facility. This applies to another person or group of people trying to gain access by following a member into the facility. Every member of the Wellness Center has been assigned a key tag to allow access to the facility.
- Report any suspicious or concerning behavior to the NEMO AAA staff. Be sure to give date, time, location, and a description of the person and/or behavior.
- Call 911 in the event of an emergency or if a member finds themselves in an unsafe environment. A phone is available in the Wellness Center for 911 calls.
