As individuals age, they often encounter challenges that require specific assistance and support. In Missouri, the Missouri Association of Area Agencies on Aging (MA4) strives to support seniors and their families.
What Is MA4?
The Missouri Association of Area Agencies on Aging is a non-profit organization that advocates for the well-being of older adults. Established to address the diverse needs of Missouri’s aging population, MA4 serves as an umbrella organization that unites regional Area Agencies on Aging (AAAs) across the state.
AAAs coordinate and deliver services to seniors within specific geographic areas. By collaborating under the MA4 umbrella, these agencies can pool resources, share best practices, and collectively address the broader challenges faced by Missouri’s aging population.

Comprehensive Services
Nutrition Programs and Education: We understand the important role that nutrition plays in the well-being of older adults and individuals with disabilities. Through nutrition programs and education initiatives, we aim to empower our community with the knowledge and resources needed for a healthy lifestyle.
Congregate Meals: We create a community through congregate meals, offering not just nourishment but also social interaction. These communal dining experiences create a supportive environment for seniors to share stories, laughter, and companionship.
Home-Delivered Meals: For those who may face challenges in attending congregate meals, we extend our services by delivering nutritious meals directly to homes. This initiative helps ensure that everyone has access to proper nutrition. (Home delivered meals may not be available to everyone, depending on your location. Please, inquire for more details).
Transportation: Recognizing the importance of mobility for independence, we provide funding for transportation services and help identify transportation options within the community. Whether it’s a medical appointment or a social gathering, we aim to help older adults and individuals with disabilities have access to reliable and convenient transportation.
Employment Services: We go beyond traditional aging services by offering employment support. Recognizing the value of continued engagement, we provide opportunities for older adults to stay active in the workforce or explore new career paths.
Housing: Addressing the housing needs of the community, we assist in navigating housing options, ensuring that older adults and individuals with disabilities have access to safe and suitable living arrangements.
Ombudsman: Advocacy is at the core of our mission. Through a collaborative partnership with Voyce, we have volunteers who visit with residents of nursing homes and other long-term-care facilities, ensuring their voices are heard and their concerns addressed.
Disease Prevention: We actively engage in disease prevention efforts, providing education and resources to help individuals maintain a healthy lifestyle and reduce the risk of chronic diseases.
The Silver Haired Legislature: SHL stands as a distinctive and impactful voice for Missouri’s older adults. It comprises a dedicated group of citizens aged 60 and above who prepare bills and resolutions for presentation at the statewide conference.
Information and Assistance: We serve as a comprehensive resource hub, offering information and assistance to individuals seeking guidance on a variety of topics, from healthcare options to community resources.
Through diverse services and unwavering commitment, NEMO AAA meets the immediate needs of older adults and individuals with disabilities and fosters a culture of support, empowerment, and dignity. Contact us today for more information.
